DEFRA 2025, Class I (up to 1.305 tonnes) (Battery Electric Vehicle), Factors by Category sheet, ID 8_303_3087_4_1
Methodology
Derived from direct physical activity measurements (litres, kilometres, kilograms). The most accurate approach where activity data exists.
Notes
* Scope 2 boundary · DEFRA classifies this as Scope 2 only for the electricity-generation component of EV charging. Use it when the reporting organisation purchases the charging electricity within its inventory boundary; transmission and distribution losses and upstream energy-supply emissions are Scope 3. A journey in a vehicle outside the organisation’s ownership or control is generally reported using the relevant Scope 3 travel or freight factor instead.
